Used Boats
Used Boats
If your budget is not enough to get you a brand new boat then proceed to your next option—used boats. Used boats are not bad alternatives. You just have to know how to go about buying one. Here are some tried-and-tested tips when it comes to used boats.
1.Find a reputable dealer.
You need all the help you can get. Unlike new boats, used boats come with strings attached. The price may be low but there might be a little problem with the hull. Browse the yellow pages of your phonebook and hire a dealer with a good reputation. This way you can save yourself from viewing every single sued boat in the state and only check out the ones recommended by your dealer.
2.Make an appointment to personally see the used boat.
Your dealer already checked out the boat before he or she recommend it to you. However, no matter how reputable your dealer is, clear your schedule to get a close look at the used boat.
3.Have the used boat examined.
Your dealer likes the used boat. You like the used boat. These are not enough grounds. Ask for a third opinion. Have it examined by a professional marine surveyor. Have the surveyor check the hull and the entirety of the boat, from the bow to the stern. Ask him or her to list down the repairs to be done on the used boat.
4.Compare prices.
Do not settle for one choice. There are many used boats out there. At least have three selections. After you have the three boats examined, compare prices. You can use the list of recommended repairs as a bargaining chip to land a better price on the boat.
